About The Manor West Centre
We have one of the longest acronyms in the Hartlepool voluntary sector! OMWNWRA stands for Owton Manor West Neighbourhood Watch and Residents Association. Formed in October 2002 our initial purpose was to reduce crime in our area. The western part of the Owton Manor estate which is the poorest in Hartlepool and the twenty fifth more deprived in the country. We then went on to form a residents association as the organisation began to grow, developing a range of activities to meet local needs.
We had little experience when we started and have learned the hard way. However we have undertaken training to develop our skills, attracting volunteers with various other abilities in the process, both to sit on our committee and help out in other ways.
